world political arena of the 21st Century. There is no doubt about the
increasing importance of China: its sustained economic growth continues to
impress experts and laymen alike. Every crucial actor in the world feels the
need to position itself toward China. States, regions and local authority, all
send delegations to China. Companies and other organizations all over the world
get air of the gold fever and take the plunge.
Many times, however, such delegations and companies experience a lack of a good
understanding and sound insight in China.s society and its political decision
making. Time and again, the latest newsflash on China appears to outdate soon
and lead to nowhere; often we do not succeed in grasping the underlying economic
and political developments in China. Newspaper articles and wild first-hand
stories clearly do not suffice to base one.s understandings and decisions on.
